I've been searching for many years now to find my maternal Grandmother's records. She was born in the Sroda area of Posen, during the Prussian occupation, in 1867. She came to US in May of 1879 and went someplace in Pennsylvania to where it is believed she had a brother living and working in mines. I cannot find any records there either. She had a brother Thomas. Her name was Zofia (Sophia) Stella Tomczak. Her father's name was Andrew Tomczak and to our best ability to make out the name on her marriage certificate, her mother's name was Franciska Szlapek.
