Hi Fran,
I too just happen to check this msg forum after over a year. I am Michael Tomczaks gg-son and g-son to Joseph (Tomczak) Thompson. Joseph changed his name to Thompson. Joseph married Ada Williams after moving to NY. Joseph was born 4 Jul 1892 and died 5 Jan 1970. I don't know about any son of Michael's named John.
