Nova Scotia Tonks and Toronto Tonks

Hi Folks!

My name is Paul K. Smith and I've just started doing some research into my family, part of which (on my mother's side) is Tonks.

My mother's name was Joan Barbara Smith (nee Tonks) and she was born October 11, 1927 in Smethwick, Staffordshire.

My grandfather was Thomas Tonks who died circa 1947 in Liverpool, N.S., Canada. My grandmother was Annie Tonks (nee Mowbray). And that's all the info I have at this point.

I believe my grandfather came from Staffordshire and emigrated at some point to Canada. For a number of years he was the golf pro at White Point Beach Lodge and I think he was the one who designed the course.

I am in possession of a family Tonks tree dating back to 1812 in Wolverhampton that was prepared by Basil Tonks in 1983. He was the suffragan bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto.

I do not think I am related to this branch of the Tonks even though it is in the same area.

If anybody is interested please contact me and I will provide you with a copy of same.
