Sam, my great-grandmother Sarah Tonks was born in Birmingham, England 2-3-1857, daughter of James Tonks and Elizabeth Dukes (source: birth certificate). James Tonks was born circa February 1824 in England (source: 1900 New Jersey Census) and died 3-7-1908 (source: death certificate). Elizabeth Dukes was born 7-7-1834 in England (source: 1900 New Jersey Census) and died 12-19-1916 (source: death certificate). The Tonks family immigrated to the United States in 1868. Other children of James and Elizabeth Tonks were Thomas (born c. 1861); Henry/Harry (born c. 1863; William (born c. 1866); Walter (born c. 1867); Elizabeth (born c. 1870) and Nellie/Ellen (born c. 1872). All but Elizabeth and Nellie/Ellen born in England. Do you by any chance have any of the above in your database? Look forward to hearing from you.
