with reference to the posting on Daniel Tonks I have now found the family in the 1851 census. William, Daniels father, states that he was born in Bitterley Shropshire. The census page is not easy to read and his age is covered in enumerators marks. I have found on the IGI a William Tonks born in Bitterley Shropshire in 1804 and a William Tonks married to a Rhoda Howell in Kingswinford in 1828. The William born in Bitterley had a father namedRichard TUNKS and mother Mary.

any Bitterley connections?
