Thanks for your reply Robert.

I hadn't found John Tonks on the 1891 Census, so I'll try again. I did find him and Sarah on the 1901 Census and that is where I found the information on Blanche. There was also another daughter, Sarah, on the census born c.1893. Sarah indicated that she was born in Bristol. I placed a notice on a forum for Bristol re Sarah and a reply was sent from a lady who found a Sarah Bate married to a William Bate. Sarah could actually be a Millington, and William Bate died in 1882, so I'm researching along those lines at the moment. They had 3 children so I'm trying to find those as well. So it could well be that John Tonks and Sarah Bate weren't even married.

John and Walter were brothers, Walter died in 1898 age 42yo. There were 7 siblings in all.

Thanks for your help, I'll definitely look at the 1891 Census again.
