Dear Bob
Thank you very much indeed for the info on the 1891 Census because I didn't know of Isaac. I found his birth, but I also found that he died at 10yo. I have Edward's birth cert. and his mother was Sarah Jane, formerly Bate. I haven't been able to find any Sarah Bates born c.1853. If my information is correct, Sarah Jane Millington was born in 1853 in Runcorn, Cheshire. She married William Bate in 1877. William died in 1882 aged 30. Their children were Samuel c.1877, Sarah c.1879 and, I think, Rachel c.1881. This name could be confused with Blanche.
John Tonks was previously married to Caroline Tustin who died in 1881 aged 32. Their children were John William c.1868, Mary Ann c.1869, Jane c.1872 and Henry c.1877. I think this Henry is the one on the 1891 census. I can't find any marriage for John and Sarah, so I doubt if they were married.
Hope this isn't too confusing.

Laurette
