Happy New Year to you. I've been sifting through the information you gave me from the 1891 Census and am hoping you can help further. Can you tell me if they were on a vessel because they were on one on the 1901 Census. Also, if you have access to the 1891 Census, would you mind checking for the records of William and Ann Tonks please? Their parents were William and Harriett Tonks, and I have the four of them on the 1881 Census, but only the parents on the 1891 Census for Birmingham. The parents were lodgers. Both children were born in Birmingham, William would have been 15 and Ann 12.
I'm still having problems identifying Sarah Tonks' maiden name and I think the only way I can do it would be to find the birth of her daughter Blanche, which I can't find. Are you able to look on the 1891 Census for either Blanche Tonks or Bate/s, born c.1881? I guess the only other way to find out is to send for more of the children's birth certificates. I have Edward's, but it states her name as formerly Bate, but I think Bate is a married name.
Hoping you can help, thanks for your time.
