Hello Dawne,
Thanks for your response. William Tonks (Tunks) arrived in Australia on Sirius in 1788, going to Norfolk Island in Nov. 1791, then coming back to the Australian mainland in 1793, before taking up several more land grants. There is a book on his life in Australia, but I am writing a book on Sarah's life, in which William features largely. Very little is known of their previous lives in England and I find it strange that there appear to be no records. I can only assume there are, but we (the Tunks Descendants Assoc) are looking in the wrong places. I was hoping that descendants in Britain might have access to more information.
