In 1828 Peter Tooley brought his sons, George M. and James A. from Oneida Co., NY to settle in Palermo, Oswego Co., NY. Peter located on lot 52. He served as a Justice of the Peace. From John Churchill, Landmarks of Oswego County, NY, p. 653.
According to the 1880 census for Palermo, Oswego co., NY George Tooley, age 61 with wife, Lois, age 58 and children: Marthey E., age 40; Mary L., age 25; Minot F., age 19; Elmer B., age 17; & James A., age 14. All b. NY. Lois' father was b. CT.
According to the 1880 census for Palermo James Tooley, farmer, age 54, with wife, Lucinda, age 50 & sons, Oscar, cooper, age 23 & Adison, farmer, age 20. All b. NY. Lucinda's father b. MA.
