Carolyn Jean Tooley Ruland 1933 Norfolk

Hello, friends, and possibly family:

I am the second daughter of Caroline Jean Tooley and Fred A. Ruland, Jr. My mother grew up in Norfolk, NY. She passed away on November 29, 2001. I loved her dearly! I miss her dearly! She was extremely witty, principled, musical, literate, well-read, and wise.

I have never visited New York; I long to know more about the state, and especially my mother's hometown. I would love to visit soon, too. If you know anything of my mother, her family, her childhood, anything, please email me.

My mother told me how much she loved New York, for all of my life. It is a mythic place to me, even moreso since my mother died, so please help make it real for me again. My favorite story? How my mother loved to read, while sitting in an apple tree.

I was born in Bellville, Texas, and now live in Austin, Texas.

Sincerely,
Patty Ruland
