Benjamin F. Tooley in NY, Vt, MA
Posted by: Kathleen Tooley Austin (ID *****7026) Date: June 29, 2010 at 12:43:44
  of 839

My great, great grandfather was Heil J. Tooley of Stephentown, NY, whose father was Benjamin F. Tooley. Benjamin came to NY in 1838 from the Rutland, VT area. He married Amanda Carr. Benjamin is listed on the 1850 and 1860 census with a Dorcus Tooley b. 1789 as a household member. At first I thought Dorcus must be his mother, but after reading a post on this website about a John Tooley from Berkshire Co., MA who fought in the Rev. War, whose children were David, John Jr., Isaac b. 1774, Jacob b. 1775, Lydia b. 1779, and Dorcus b. 1789, I considered that she might be his aunt and that there might be some connection between John and Benjamin. The Benjamin I'm looking for is not the one who is the son of Jacob, I don't believe. That Benjamin married Lucy Chapell, not Amanda Carr. Can anyone help me?

Kathy
