Donna: Thank you for your response. The research I've seen demonstrates that James did indeed have a son, John. The John Tooley (or Tuley based on the spelling in James' will) I'm looking for was James' father; he was married to Sarah New. There's not much definitive on the line earlier than that. There is a John Tooley and Mary UNKNOWN who were working 165 acres of land in Norfolk County in 1704. I've also seen references to Peter Tuley, who immigrated from France about that time, but his arrival does not fit with what is reported about John Tooley, born in 1690. At lest for now, I've hit an impasse. Thank you nonetheless.
