TOPHAM OF PENTRICH, DERBYSHIRE.
Posted by: jay roland (ID *****7994) Date: December 22, 2005 at 04:22:13
  of 175

My 5th great aunt Julia Fletcher married a Joseph Topham at Pentrich, Derbyshire. The 1851 census has the family as thus....

1851 census for Joseph Topham living at Mansfield Road, Sherwood, Nottingham is thus

JOSEPH TOPHAM......HEAD......AGE 53......SMITH
JULIA TOPHAM......WIFE......AGE 47
JOSEPH TOPHAM......SON......AGE 22......SMITH
JABEZ TOPHAM......SON......AGE 20......SMITH
JULIA TOPHAM......DAU......AGE 17......DOMESTIC DUTIES
CATHERINE TOPHAM......DAU......AGE 15......DOMESTIC DUTIES
EDWARD TOPHAM......SON......AGE 13......DOMESTIC DUTIES
FREDERICK TOPHAM......SON......AGE 11......SMITH
HENRY TOPHAM......SON......AGE 8......SCHOLAR
EMMA TOPHAM......DAU......AGE 4......SCHOLAR

Both parents were born Pentrich but all the children were born Nottinghamshire. There are no further records of any of this family in the UK so I can only presume they emmigrated, but to where?

Do any of these folk ring any bells out there? If so then I would love to hear from you.

Regards,
Jay.
