Hi Julie,
I am also researching the Tophams of New Brunswick and Maine.

I found a John B receiving a land grant in Gloucester Co., NB, in 1818. A note next to the record said "military-54th Regiment" In 1789 a Sunbury County land grant was made to a John Topham. It also had a note about the 54th Regiment. If these two Johns are the same, I wonder if he was a loyalist who immigrated to N.B. after the war. There are other land grants to John Topham until 1825. Is it the same man or maybe his son?

Other references are for Abraham and Joseph who are in my family tree. I am trying to find out if John B was Abraham's father.

The records are online at the New Brunswick government site: www.archives.gnb.ca. You can order copies of them.

Hope this helps.
