You usually have to get back to people born in the 1800's or earlier before there is a lot of data on the internet.

Your father had more names than most people. Do you know which one he used commonly? Secondly, if you know which continent you were born on, it would help. Something must account for the 32-year age discrepancy betwen your father and mother. I point that out because there is a Frederick George Topham born in 1917 or 1918 who won the Victoria Cross in WWII. He was a paratrooper from Canada. If you mother was a nurse in an old soldier's home, and he still had some fire in him, she might have had an affair with the dashing but aging hero.

Then again, maybe not. Have you tried for death certificates or an obituary? You couldn't have been born much earlier than 1965, which means Mr. Topham was alive then, and most countries required death certificates by then.
