Bit of a long shot but my great, great grandfather was a John Topham and his eldest brother was a William Topham b 1835 (probably in North Yorkshire - Snape, Masham, Newby, Ripon). We don't know who he married or whether he had children. His parents were Thomas Topham (b. 1809) and Elizabeth Hartley (b. 1804). John Topham's eldest son was Frederick (b 1869.) Again we don't know his marriage or children. Either via William or his nephew Frederick we think there is a connection to Canada - possibly Winnipeg. Thanks. Jane UK
