There are a lot of Torgersons.We need a bit more information to help you...such as ages of your relatives, places where they lived in the U.S., etc.If your great grandfather was the immigrant he might be listed on the Ellis Island site or the Emigrant listing from Norway.
Surnames in Norway change with each generation before 1900.My grandfather's surname was Torgerson also, because his father's first name was Torger.His sister's last name was Torgersdatter.A wife from that time also retained her maiden name instead of changing to her husband's surname.Many times a person actually changed their last name to whatever farm they happened to be from as well.
Most people are willing to help where possible but they need as much information as you can furnish.Most records available online for the U.S. end in 1930 except for some death records.
