Hello Tom...

I just found your message on Genalogy.com and was wondering if my Tarrance line fits into the line you listed. Here's the little bit of information that I have.

My gg grandmother, Louise "Lou" Frances Tarrance Donaldson, was the daughter of Richard Tarrance and Elizabeth Yancey. Lou was born ca 1845, married James Flemington "Flem" Donaldson Jul 18, 1875, and died Aug 9, 1927 in Cleburne Co, AL.

She and Flem had 8 children (Mollie, Edmund/Edward Jefferson, Minnie, Ross, James Robert "Jim", Alice, Linnie & Lela...Linnie & Lela were twins). To my knowledge both Flem & Lou lived their entire lives in the Cleburne Co area. Flem died when the twins were about 12 years old, which would be about 1905. Lela was my great grandmother.

I'd be interested in any information you have for Richard and Elizabeth and their ancestors. I've had a difficult time researching this line, probably due to the various spellings of the last name, so I don't have much information on them.

I show Richard born about 1820 in either GA or TN, married Elizabeth January 3, 1841 in Campbell Co, but I'm not sure if Campbell Co is GA or TN. I have no date of death for him, only show the place of death as AL. I have two burial places listed for him, so I'm not sure which is correct. The first is William's Cem/Cherry Grove Cem in Cleburne Co, which is also the cemetery where his daughter, Lou, and two of her children are buried. The second cemetery, which came from a cousin in Cleburne Co, is that Richard is buried in Jefferson Co, Al, although no cemetery was named.

I show Elizabeth Yancey Tarrance was born about 1824, place unknown. And I have a date of death around 1892 for her. Information from the same cousin mentioned above shows that she is buried in Fruithurst, AL.

I do know that Elizabeth's maiden name was "Yancey" and she was the daughter of James & Nancy Yancey. Looks like I have James & Nancy both born in South Carolina and married in Georgia. But I have no date of death for them.

I had a chance to go back to Piedmont & Borden Springs last summer (I hadn't been since I was a small child) and hope to return this summer. The cousin I mentioned above who gave me the burial locations for Richard and Elizabeth, took me to some of the local cemeteries while I was there. We went to both Cherry Grove/William's and Borden Springs Church of Christ. I have photos of some of the Donaldson graves in these cemeteries (including Lou Tarrance Donaldson's grave, plus my mother has pictures for other Donaldson family from the cemetery in Piedmont. Lou's grave is marked by a WW2 shell casing (I think that's was it was). She is buried between two of her sons (Linnie & Ross)...one of the son's graves is marked by a brick and the other is currently unmarked. Other family members are in the process of trying to have actual markers placed on the graves so they are not lost with time.

Again, I'd be interested in any information you can provide regarding Richard & Elizabeth and their ancestors. I have pictures of Lou and her family and descendants that I am willing to share with anyone looking for them. I'd also love to find an old picture of Richard and Elizabeth, although I know the chances of finding one is slim! Please let me know if there is more information I can share with you!

Thanks in advance for your help & God bless,
Hope

PS...while scanning pictures at my great uncle's house this past Christmas, I scanned a photo with the name "John Tarrance" written on the back. These photos belonged to my great grandmother, Lela Donaldson Holland, daughter of Louise "Lou" Frances Tarrance and granddaughter of Richard & Elizabeth Tarrance. I'd love to find out who John Tarrance is!
