In 1900 Richland County, SC census, Clemmons C. Torrence is living with his aunt Martha E. Roberts. Martha E is the widowed wife of William Talmadge Roberts--my gggrandfather. She died in Hickory, NC where her son Marion Tredwell Roberts lived and was brought back to Eastover, SC for burial. Her death certificate lists her father as Richard Torrence born in SC. When you trace the father of Clemmons C., Richard, he is found to be the son of Lucinda and Lorenzo Torrence of Richland Co. They had children: Susan, Sarah E, Elizabeth (who I believe is Martha E), Richard and Rusha. Lorenzo died sometime before 1854. Lucinda lived, at least, until 1870 and is seen on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Richland Co. Censuses. Apparently, Lorenzo was Richard Lorenzo Torrence--his son Richard was called Richard. I haven't figured out how to connect these Torrences to the Hugh Torrence clan that moved North and West and back and forth. I think they are connected, however.
