Mary Ann,

Of course, there are two problems concerning my last post's suggestion that "Mrs. Torrance" might be Polly Torrance, daughter of William and Hepsibah (Batcheller) Torrance.

1. She is called "Mrs," but Polly's maiden name was Torrance and no marriage record for her has been found.

2. No Polly Torrance (using numerous search tricks and techniques) can be located in the 1850 census. If she died in 1854, she must be somewhere, unless she was simply missed or her name butchered in the census.

Thoughts and comments?

Jan
