Correcting my previous post: LUKE G. TORRENCE and SARAH J. WOOD were married on Dec. 3, 1845, not Dec. 9. I have located the source for the newspaper article announcing the marriage. The date of publication of the news article was Dec. 9, 1845.
"On the 3rd inst. (of the same month; December), by Rev. Mr. Richardson, Mr. Luke G. Torrence, of Plum Grove, to Miss Sarah J. Wood, of Highland Grove, both of Cook Co.," Chicago Democrat; December 9, 1845; Vital Records from Chicago Newspapers 1845; p. 20; Chicago Genealogical Society; Compiled by the Newspaper Research Committee; Georgina Cole Library; Carlsbad, CA.
It should be noted that Plum Grove and Highland Grove are just northwest of Chicago near Palatine Township.
