Mary,

I am not sure how this fits in with your information, but as part of my research I am looking into the Nichols family and came across your post. In my research of the Nichols line I have a Annie M Nichols who married Dr. Albert Torrence (5/25/1838- 7/16/1880) on 11/13/1863 in Adams County Illinois. He is buried in the Columbus Cemetery in Columbus Illinois with the Inscription: a 42y 1m 22d
Also in this cemetery is their daughter Sarah Bell died at age 7, 4/15/1866 - Aug. 20, 1873
And his mother Sarah Torrence (1776 - May 2, 1859)
I believe that Sarah was married to Thomas Torrence, but unable to confirm. I am not sure how or if this lines up to the Torrences you are linked to but hopefully this is of interest to you. I have created memorials for them on the Find A Grave Website
I am tracing the Nichols side and Annie is the yougest sister of my GGgrandmother Celina Nichols McNeall
