Great information, Tim.
Dr Albert Torrence (1838-1880) x 1863 Margaret ANNIE Nicholas (1844- ) of Columbus, IL was the first of 8 Torrence children.
The others were
Olive Davis Torrence (1841-1911)of Quincy, IL
Eliza Sprout Torrence (1843-1906) of Pike Co, IL
Alwilda Torrence (1844-1899) of Quincy
William P Torrence (1848-1899)
Dr Laris Pullman Torrence (1849-1920) of Marion Co, MO
Mary A Torrence (1853-1937) of Quincy, IL
Sarah Katherine Torrence (1857- )
They are all part of Generation 8.
My grandfather, Albert Torrence(1889-1970) was in Generation 9 and lived in Ottumwa, Iowa.
He was the 5th of 6 children and I knew all of them as we went to reunions in Wapello County, IA.
My mom was a Generation 10 and that makes me a Generation 11.
Dr Albert and Annie had two children. The first was young Sarah Bell Torrence (1866-1873) of Columbus, IL and the seocnd was her brother
John A Torrence (1877- ) x 1899 Lulu D Sullivan (1878- ) of Quincy, IL. I do not have more on John.
You thought you found Dr Albert's mother, Sarah. (But skipped a generation.)
Dr John Torrence (1813-1899) x 1836 Sarah Sprott (1820-1895) of Indiana and then Quincy, IL. Gen 7
Dr John was the 8th of 8 children.
The Sarah that you found is Sarah Phillips (1776-1859) who is in Generation 6.
She married Albert Torrence (1770-1838) in 1798 and they are the parents of the 8 children including Dr John and Sarah Sprott.
Generation 5 has James Torrance (1736-1810) x 1764 Elizabeth Blair (1740- ) and then 1781 Janet Shields (c1760-1820) of Mifflin Twp, Allegheny Co, PA.
This branch is altogether different from the Massachusets branch that has been discussed recently. However, they are related in the 4th generation.
You may want to pursue the lead on Annie's son, John A Torrence and Lulu.
Since the connection is at Generation 8 and we both are Generation 11, we are third cousins!!!
