John S. Totherow
Does anyone know why it is believed that John S. Totherow died at Chancellorsville?
He enlisted at the age of 27 in Macon County, NC.
John Tutherow, Pvt., Co. K, 9th Regt. NC State Troops (1st Regt. NC Calvary) CSA
Is there any proof that he died at Chancellorsville?
His brothers also enlisted with him as Silas Tuthero and A.M. Tutherow (This is Alfred M.)
Also, does anyone know where his wife and children can be found in census records in 1870.His wife is commonly known on the internet amongst researchers as Minerva L. Simonds. However in the 1860 Macon Co. NC census she is listed as Minerva A.Living next door to John and Minerva is William R. Simons and wife Susan C. Simons. Also living with this couple is Mary J. Simons. Are William and Susan Simons the parents of Minerva, and Mary her sister?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has proof of John's death, and knowledge of what happened to Minerva after his death.
Also, I have seen posted that John and Minerva were married 30 July, 1859 but have not been able to locate the official record.Does anyone have this record.
Also, I have seen posted that John was in Co. B, 18th NC INF.I have found no proof that this is true, and it seems not to be true. Why is it assumed that John S. (T.) Totherrow and John Tutherow are one and the same? Was he somehow transferred and thus belonged to each Co.?Is anyone else also researching John Totherow who married Minerva Simons?Thank you.
