Another Towles researcher has told me that he has the bible of Stokeley TOWLES which survived the burning of his home by the Toried during the Revolution. He has told me that this bible proves the relationship between John and Margaret TOWLES and Oliver of South Carolina. I have not seen this yet, but I hope to soon. Louis Towles, who has been researching this family for over forty years, told me that the a Madison Co. VA Court Case, TOWLES v. CLARK in 1845, also indicated that the Oliver TOWLES,dec'd, was the son of John TOWLES. I have only seen abstracts of this case, but I am told the full record of the case is no longer in the county records.
