Don, I believe I sent for the pension records for Benjamin H. TOWLES in hopes of finding his wife's maiden name but that they could not find him. The librarian in Hart Co. KY said Benj, was in Co. K 26th KY infantry. Is that the Reg. the listed him in? An email sent to me tonight said:copy of email below

You will find that your ancestor originally enlisted into the 33rd KY Inf out of Hart Co. The 33rd was formed 13 Sep 1862 at Munfordville, KY. However, the regiment (four companies) was consolidated with the 26th KY Inf on 1 Apr 1864. The 33rd then formed companies G, H, I, and K of the 26th KY Inf. Most of the original 33rd signed up for one year enlistments and did not reenlist and 3 companies of the 26th did not reenlist after their three year terms of service had expired. Most of the regiment (new 26th) mustered out of service in June and July 1865 at Salisbury, NC.

IF this is true that might be why I could find him.
