Comfusion of Olivers
Posted by: Berry Towles Canote Date: March 02, 2001 at 12:22:18

I have recently been trying to untangle a confusion of Olivers, the one that was killed by Tories in SC, and Col. Oliver, father of Lt. Harry that died at Fallen Timbers. While I now have the lineage of Oliver killed by Torries corrected, that leaves me not knowing who the other Oliver's parents were. Here is his information: Oliver Towles b. around 1740, married Mary Chew apparently the widow of John Morris Smith. Had children Oliver married Agatha Lewis, Lt. Henry, Molly, and Ann Towles. He died about 1835 in
Lynchburg, VA.
