Ann,
World Family Tree (CD) Vol. 1, Tree #0353 gave his name as "Seth Towles" --- dates for his birth vary from 1762/1772 to 1798,depending on which souce you are reading. He is said to have served as a Captain in the militia during the American Rev. & the War of 1812 - one source shows him serving in Tucker's Regt, S Car Militia -- He is in the 1807 Edgefield Co, SC Land Records, Bk 28, pgs 252 & 257. He is "John Tolls" in both the 1810 & 1820 US Census, Edgefield District, SC. Hope this helps. Mary Frances is gr-gr-grandmother of my husband... Mary Frances, her son, Wiley "Bart", his daughter, Janie Eliza, her son, George William Conner, then my husband. Hope this will help you.
