John was Seth's grandfather's name...his father was Stokeley Towles as was his great-grandfather. The name probably came down the family from Henry Towles (the immigrant & father of the first Stokeley Towles) Henry's wife's father was John Stokeley. An entry on Ancestry.com (#1710 dated 5 Jan. 2003) for the Clarke/Harris family says Tabitha's grandmother (Beale) was robbed by Tory "Bloody Bill Cunningham" which made her a heroine of the Revolutionary War. It said Capt. Beale was a scout for South Carolina - listed his daughter Frances Fanny Beale born 1745 in SC; also listed Tabitha & James as his children. I hope this helps. Would you share any infomation you may have about Tabitha's family?
