Here's a bit more info Lauren.

Newberry County Equity Records 1818-1844, Will Book M & N with Annual Returns, Will Book I, Miscellaneous Annual Returns by Sandra J. Lee, M.D., Pages 98 & 99, "...Cynthia (Synthy) Burton Towles had received a very small part of her father's estate because "her husband Daniel Towles was a spend-thrift who had already wasted his estate". Synthy Burton Towles died 17 October 1825. Daniel Towles died Christmas 1829. Children of Cynthia Burton and Daniel Towles were:
1.Edney Towles married John Stephens
2. Phebe Towles married Martin Longshore
3. Sarah Towles married Patrick Synott
4. William Towles
5. Oliver Towles
6. Jane Towles married _____Pitts (a Jane B. Towles m. a James Pitts but I don't have an adequate source for this yet as to whether it was this Jane. Lib)
7. Peter Towles

William Burton, Sr. died 1826 April and his widow Phebe died 1824. This is a very long and interesting equity. Several family members give testimony."
