This information was given to me and you can check it out if you like. Col. Oliver Towles death & birth. -Richomond Enquirer Dec. 18,1821, page 3, columne 6. 80 years old- refused a position on the Court of Appeals with Edmund Pendleton.
This would mean that he was born in 1741
which would also mean he is not the son of John and Margaret Daniels. also John died in South Carolina. It would only make sense that he followed his sons. My cousin had a long list of other reasons which I can try to locate. Unfortunately my cousin has passed, but he believed that Oliver Towles (1714-1770) who was married to Mary Gillison were his parents. They were married in 1733.
One of his reasons was also that John and Margaret were farmers and could not have afforded the Colonels training.
