Tony, I just read you post concerning William Towles father of Toliver. I am quite certain that I descended from this William. My GGGG-grandfather William Towles was born in Edgefield District,SC in 1774 to Stocjley and Martha Towles. He had a son by the name of Toliver by his first wife. He later married a Catherine and had a daughter named Elvira Towles. Elvira married James A. Germany and later moved to Tallapoosa County, Alabama. James and Elvira are my GGG-Grandparents. I am led to believe that William Towles was COL William Towles but can't find any reference to his military history. I also found a reference that he may be the same COL William Towles who served in the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of Georgia..pre 1835. Do you have any information to help me expand this leg of my family tree. I'm stuck at Stockley and can't tie him in to the other Towles'. I'd really appreciate it. My email address is kataylor@acs-isp.com.
Thanks, Kimbal Taylor
