In response to the Towner surname I would like to add some follow up.
Research of ancient documents including the Inquisitio, the Exchequer Rolls of Scotland, the Ragman Rolls, the Hearth Rolls, the Domesday Book, parish cartularies, baptismals, and tax rolls, revealed that the first record of the Towner name was found in Linlithgowshire, where they were seated from very ancient times.
Most of my information was aquired thru the Hall Of Names International and has been given an certification #.
I also have a complete bibliography of frequently used sources which I have used for information.
I'm sure the quest for the origin of the Towner surname will go on as long as there are Towner's interested in searching it out. Chances are no one will agree for certain where it actually derived from.
I am happy with all the research I've done and maybe we can put it all together some time.
Thanks for your response
