For many years I have researched the Fist US Artillery and the men that served in that unit during the Civil War. One soldier, Private Charles H. Tozer, was born in about May 1830 at Abergavenny, England and enlisted in the First US Artillery in September 1850. After the Civil War, he served in the same unit until 1875 and may have lived in Ontario County New York after discharge from the Army.
