TOZER, GEOFFERY HOWARD TOZER born December 10, 1922, in The Coldstream, Vernon, B.C. died March 12, 2005, Kelowna, B.C. On March 12, 2005. Geoff Tozer was united with the love of his life Anita Tozer (Bennett) who predeceased him July 10, 2000. Geoff was born in the Coldstream to W.A.R. "John" Tozer and Molly Tozer (Surtees) and moved to Kelowna at the age of 3. Raised in Kelowna he graduated from Kelowna Secondary just prior to WWII. He traveled the world as a member of the Merchant Navy during the war and to the late 1940's. He met his future wife Anita Bennett on a blind date on New Years' Eve, December 31st, 1951 and the married December 10, 1952. Their first home was in Hay River, NWT where Geoff was a Captain on the McKenzie River. In 1954 they returned to Kelowna and purchased the Restmor Auto Court. In 1958, with partners Bill and Audrey Bennett, they built and operated the Inn Towner Motel (now the Travelodge) until they sold in 1972. Geoff was the last, and oldest of the line of three brothers. Hugh (1992) and Tony (2000) predeceased him. Two sons survive Geoff and Anita; William of Ponoka, AB., and Allen (Linda Laird) of Kelowna, granddaughters Laura and Alexa (who were the lights of his life). Sisters-in-law Susan and Marlene Tozer, nephews and nieces, great friends and extended family also survive him. Geoff was known for his quick wit, great sense of humor and dislike for formal situations. It was hard enough to get him to go to family Christmas dinner yet alone his own funeral; so at his request there will be no funeral. He wanted anyone wishing to remember him to make a donation to the "Anita Tozer Memorial Fund" for the prevention of child abuse and child neglect in our community. c/o Central Okanagan Foundation, 217-1889 Springfield Road, Kelowna, B.C. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting Arrangements in care of FIRST MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES, 762-2299
