The only history I have for his naval career came from the India Office Family History Search and it is very basic.
With regards to the nick name I haven't seen anything so far but my great great grandfather was christened Edward but appears as Richard on all the census returns - maybe it was a Tozer thing. Morgan's father Caleb Evans Tozer was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy. Morgan married Anne Elizabeth in 1862 at Hendon - she died in 1871. He then married Harriet on 20 Nov 1872 in Edinburgh, Scotland. There are quite a few things about them on the British Newspapers website mainly because Morgan's brother Benjamin drank himself to death and it was quite a scandal at the time because of a dispute over his will. Anne appears to have become a member of the Temperance movement and signed the pledge in 1870 as reported in the Western Mail.
