With regard to your request for information regarding Trainas from Palermo through Ellis Island to California, I do have some information you may be interested in. My maternal grandparents were Jack and Rosalie Traina (born Spillini or Spillino). He was born approximately 1888 and she was born in 1889. He died in 1959 and she in 1986. They had four children, the first three of which were born in Sicily: Nicolas (b.1909) Anthony, (b.1911), and Josephine (b.1913). Josephine died in 1954, Anthony in 1984, and Nicolas in 1998. They had a fourth child, Claudia, born in Los Angeles in 1920, who is my mother and is still living. The family owned a fruit and vegetable jobbing business for many years, from the 1930s (approx.) to the 1950s. If you are interested in more information on grandchildren and great-grandchildren, I will be happy to provide all information I have. If you can tell us more about Sicily roots, I would appreciate it. My mother is interested in learning more about Sicilian links. Thank you. Randy Haddock
