If you go to the other TRAMMELL forum and look under the BURKE thread, you will find discussion of Burke and James TRAMMELL, s/o Sampson TRAMMELL. There are some researchers listed there of the Sampson/David clan. Mrs. Betty Snyder is of the David Trammell family and has a good deal of information on the David and Sampson families. There is a guardianship proceeding "back East" wherein David became the guardian of the minor DAUGHTERS of Sampson. However, it appears he did not take them with him to Arkansas, and his stay in Texas was brief, as he found being shot at by the unfriendlies there were not healthy, so he moved back to AR. James and Burke (s/o Sampson) found the soldier life enjoyable (at least three meals a day) and thus Burke was killed in the Alamo, leaving James to defend Texas in later battles against Mexico. Dennis filed an heirship affidavit (from AR) with the patent office and showed that Dennis and Margaret were the sole heirs of Burke (James had just died a few months? prior). No living sisters mentioned or named; however, the AR affiant probably had no idea there may have been sisters still alive in VA or KY. A little late now claiming their share. I would like to see what you have garnered on these possible Sampson descendants. Larry Anderson
