A book in the Brown County,Ohio library at Georgetown states that Mathias and Annie M. Troutwein were the parents of Jacob Troutwein and that he was born in 1802 in Wurtemberg, Germany. His mother died when he was 3. In 1805 Mathias and Jacob emigrated to America and settled in PA. Jacob was reared on a farm,(his father's?) and in June 1823 married Judith Sheak (Schick, I believe) Nothing further is said about Mathias, but maybe the PA census from 1810, 1820, or maybe even 1830 would help.

Sorry I could not be of more help. If you find out anything more about Mathias, I would be pleased to know. The article that gives the above information also mentions the names of Jacob and Judith's children and I can give some information of some of them, if you would like. The Troutwein family was well thought of in Ash Ridge, Jackson Township, Brown County, OH
