William Travis, Pitt Co.,NC
For John Norvill Jones:
For some reason could not get my message to respond directly to your query. I have a limited amount of info on William Travis as follows:
He was a Baptist minister. Served in the Revolutionary War. While serving in the Rev. War he was captured by the British. He served the state of NC on several commissions and was Justice of the Peace in Pitt Co. He was a delegate for Red Banks Church in the Pitt Co. to the Asssociation. He was also said to teach and exhort in the church. A bronze tablet at Warrenton, GA commerates his Revolutionary service. He was a Freemason. I have a family group sheet for him and Abigail Denmark if you are interested. I am a direct descendant of William, son Allen Travis, then Christopher Simeon Travis, then Mary Cornelia Travis Granberry who was my grandmother. You can reach me at [email protected].
