Anita, Thanky you very much for your response. I have that book, as well as books by Casey, Price, and two Travis fellows. The problem is that the good general made several incorrect assumptions about two separate Travis families: that of Edward of James Town, father of William who married Elizabeth and was in the Burgess of Lancaster County etc and William the Quaker of NC, who married Sary West 1666 in Rhode Island Plantation and was in Pasquotank, Carolina in 1670. I THINK all the Travis men in NC derived from William and Sary, at least during the time frame 1670-1770. The question of a father for Edward in Bath has never been proven. Again, my best GUESS is that he was grandson, son of Daniel?, of William and Sary based on proximity. The marriage of Edward to Mary Mills is repeated in several books, but it makes more sense that Mary Mills married Edward Travis of James Town, since she was of Virginia/Maryland. Bath, Carolina was rather isolated. I am trying to sort out the truth, which I KNOW is out there in family bibles and archives. The Travis books have left a legacy of confusion... and proof is needed outside those books.
