Dear Shawna,

It does appear that the early families did have slaves. The will of Joseph Traylor dated 9/10/1777 list his slave names as; Suckey and Ned, Murrier and her child named Murrier, Amey, and Lucy. Joseph Traylor is my 6th great grandfather. I just started my genealogy hunting 2 years ago and have some information but not as much as others. Someone I believe who may be able to direct you to what you are seeking is Peggy Thompsen. I have used many of her posted wills as source information for my own data base. You can contact her at PThomp9719@aol.com I do not think she will mind as her address is always printed with the material she posts.

Good-luck in your search.

Toni
