Help me get started?

Hello, Can you help me get started? My Grandfather is Clifford G. Treat. He is one of twins, his sibling is a girl. He would be in his 70's and has Pennsylvania roots. I also remember an Aunt Zana. I was told that I could apply to be a Daughter of the American Revolution. Clifford had three boys, Ronnie, Danny and Michael, and married a Mary Frances who was affectionatly known as "Butch". Apparently a nickname given because she was "bone busting butch". My grandparents met in the Navy. Where do I start? What nationality does the name fall under? I have been told Scots-Irish.....and at one time the Treats were of some wealth, but alas the branch that I am related to became farmers. My family tends to be on the short side, is that the tendancy? Any information that I can get would be of great help. Thank you! JLT
