Robert Treat5 PAINE (Eunice4, Treat, Samuel,3 Robert,2 Richard1), born March 12, 1730-1, in Boston; died May 11, 1814, aged eighty-four, in Boston, and buried in the Granary burying ground; married --, 1770, Sally COBB, who died June 6, 1816, aged seventy-six, and daughter of Thomas and Lydia (Leonard) Cobb, of Taunton, Mass.

Children, the first six born in Taunton, the others in Boston:

523. Robert TREAT, b. 1770; d. July 30, 1798, in Boston, of yellow fever; umn.

524. Sally, b. --, 1772; d. Jan. 26, 1823; unm.

525. Thomas, b. Dec. 9, 1773; d. NOv. 13, 1811, aged 37, in Boston; m. Feb. 22, Elizabeth Baker, who died --. He graduated at Harvard in 1792. In 1801 he had his hame changed by act of legislature to Robert Treat Paine(o), not wishing to bear the same name as Thomas Paine, the Infidel. He was a brilliant man and a poet of much note in his time. See his works in verse and prose, Boston, 1812; and the Hundred Boston Orators, pp. 283-87. Children born in Boston:
