Interesting subject. My ggg grandfather was Stephen Treat. He was a traveling minister on the the frontier in the 1830's. He was also a fighter, as in exhibition boxing. Do not know much more specifically, but the religion ? intrigued me. I was at the history museum in Nashville a few years ago and discovered accounts of the competition on the the early Tennesee frontier of the the three major protestant religions there. It seems the Baptists, Methodists and Christians (disciples and church of Christ) were in competion for members. I understand your search has been in Ohio and Indiana. Have you tried Tennessee?
