I just learned that I am a direct decendant of Gov. Robert Treat, son of Richard. This was really exciting becuase my students just finished reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond in which he is mentioned several times in the Charter incident. Anyway, I have the Treat Book written in 1893. It says that your Matthias was supposed to be a nephew or near relative to Richard (father of Gov. Robert, but after a most thorough search no trace of him has been found in England.
