hi julia this may not be of any help but it may cloud the issue my g father was a trevarton of veryan cornwall england with their odd speech pattern it some times sounded like verton in my own side of the family some use an e at the end others dont.however my g father was named william john barnes trevarton he was one of eight children. if this info is of help im happy
