Peggy; I too was quite moved when I visited the Sinking Springs Cemetery in about 1980. I don't know about the plack for Christopher's grave marker, when I was there, a stone head piece was about three feet tall and said "Chris. Trinkle" across the top in an arc and then the lines "Va. RECVI Rev. War",and a flag was there also. I have a picture of it. Is this the same marker you saw? The farm next to the cemetery belonged to one of my great Uncles, Samuel Patton when the cemetery and the Sinkig springs Church (across the street from the cemetery) was founded. The church has long been gone, but the old farmhouse is still occupied and has been kept in very good condition. I descend from the TRINKLE, WIBLE, PATTON, RADCLIFF. COULTER, WHITMAN AND RAWLINGS families in and around Washington County, Indiana. What are your connections?I too remember the Indiana state picnics here in Calif..Joan J.
