Robert,
I just found this site. Isaiah Hornaday Trogdon was my great grandfather. His father was Joel Julian Trogdon. I have a copy of an Application for Guardianship from Greene County (1903) making my great grandmother the guardian of my grandfather, he was thirteen at the time. I know this doesn't answer your question exactly, but it is possible that Joel was with his son Isaiah when he died in 1881. Hope this helps, Russ.
